31 Weeks

Dear Sloane,

You had a busy week this week! It started off by you turning seven months old! We all can't believe it. Time is going by so quickly! I wish I could freeze time and keep you a baby for a bit longer. Your Nana always said, "Enjoy every age," and she's right! We are enjoying every day and every age, in every way! Your dad and I are going to soak up each minute of seven months!

Your seven month photo session with Aspen the penguin was a challenge. You kept wanting to take the blocks, so I had to get creative...

This week you also got some special Daddy-Daughter time, and Mommy-Daughter time! While I was at work one day, Dad took you to the park. You absolutely LOVE the feeling of the grass on your feet. You just sit and move your feet back and forth. Your Grandma came by the park to play, too! Peek-a-boo is your new favorite game, and you use a blanket to cover your face, and then drop it down. We all act surprised and say "Peek-a-boo!" Your dad says, "Peek-Peek!"

On Wednesday, you and I went to the Murrieta Public Library for the first time! I got a library card for us, until you're big enough to get your own. We sat on the carpet and read stories and picked out a few board books to bring home. Everyone at the library fawned all over you! They said you were the cutest baby, and they were right! We put your library books in your monogramed library bag, my friend Lindsey Orrel got you at my shower! We will go again soon!

This weekend was the best! We packed up the car and headed down to Nana and Poppy's house in San Diego! It was Violet's eighth birthday celebration with the family. When we arrived, your cousin Felix was napping, so Violet had to wait to open her presents. It was hard to be patient, but Felix finally woke up! Nana and Poppy gave Violet her first pair of roller skates! We gave Violet a snorkel set!

We didn't want Felix to feel completely left out, so we had a surprise for him too! That morning when we were on a walk, our neighbors were having a garage sale. I found a drum and bought it for five dollars! It was a hit with your musical cousin.

Your dad brought his new guitar along, so he could have a jam session with Fi. The name of their band is "The Felixes."

Your cousins just wanted to stay at Nana and Poppy's to play, so we took our picnic blanket to the backyard. We relaxed and watch Violet try out her new skates, and Felix "garden" with the watering can and sunflower seeds.

Violet has been very into Harry Potter this last year, so Nana made her a Harry Potter cake! We all sang "Happy Birthday!" I can't explain your Poppy's face! :)

One of the things I love most in this life, is time with family. Your Nana and Poppy instilled that in Auntie and I by creating such a loving home. Just writing about our weekend makes me feel so blessed and thankful. I hope you think that about time with our family when you're older too...after your teen years of course!

30 Weeks

Dear Sloane,

Time is passing too quickly! This weekend you turned 30 weeks, and tomorrow you'll be seven months old! With the passing of time, there are so many stories left untold; little things that I might not remember to tell you when you're older - like how you love playing peek-a-boo, that we heard your laugh for the first time on Father's Day, or that you had the diaper blowout of the century on our first road trip to Las Vegas.

To make sure that I remember all of those little things, I'm going to try to write you each weekend and tell you something from the week. I hope someday that you treasure the stories of your babyhood, and realize just how very much you are loved...especially by mom and dad!

This weekend my car was in the shop. We needed to kill some time before picking it up. In one of our epic decision making sessions, your dad and I went back and forth for quite some time, "What do you want to do?" "I don't know; what do you want to do?" Well it was I - your MOTHER - who came up with the idea to visit the duck pond in Temecula. I pass it everyday on my way to work, and it always looks so serene.

We started you in the stroller, but took you out rather quickly to give you a better view of the ducks. There were little baby ducks, big ducks, old ducks, and turtles sun bathing on rocks! We started doing laps around the pond, talking and singing to you. You know, your dad comes up with the BEST songs, substituting your name into the lyrics. I hope you find this funny when you're older. It always cracks me up!

You loved smiling and watching the ducks, water, trees blowing in the breeze, and passing cars. You just love being outside. We set you down on the grass and you rubbed your little feet all over the grass blades, trying to see if you liked or disliked the sensation. We tried to get you to look up for some pictures, but you were having none of it! Dad put on his Fallbrook Fire Station hat and that made you smile! But the best of all was you trying to lift up your shirt. Dad kept telling you that it wasn't a nude beach! Our favorite part of the outing was when Dad was taking a video of you, where mom got attacked by a bee, jumped up, and you fell over trying to take your shirt off!

Can't wait to see what happens next week!
